GIANT AWARDED 3 YEAR PENNSYLVANIA ORGAN DONATION CAMPAIGN
PITTSBURGH, PA – Giant Ideas is pleased to announce that they have been awarded the statewide Pennsylvania organ and tissue donation public awareness campaign through July, 2009. This important effort is managed through two organizations, the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE)- which covers the western part of the state, and Gift of Life Donor Program - which covers the eastern portion of the state, both of whom work in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The campaign’s goal is to increase the number of designated organ donors in Pennsylvania.
“We are very proud to be chosen for this assignment,” said Bryan K. Ward, Chief Executive Officer of Giant Ideas. “Organ donation is an extremely important issue to the health and well-being of our state and all of us at Giant felt passionate about the mission of this effort. We certainly appreciate the faith that everyone involved in this process has shown us and we look forward to exceeding their expectations in the coming months.”
The final decision came down to several agencies from across the state, with Giant being awarded the contract after a review process. “Giant Ideas impressed us with their passion for our mission and with their creative thinking,” said Susan Stuart, President/CEO of CORE. “The process was a very involved one, but from the beginning, we felt they understood our goals for the program and how important those goals are to the citizens of Pennsylvania.”
CORE and Gift of Life are both non-profit organizations dedicated to promoting donation, education and research for the purpose of saving and improving the quality of life through organ, tissue and corneal transplantation. The current statewide campaign, entitled, “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Power” will continue through 2007 and Giant Ideas will be managing the Public Relations and Advertising going forward. The multi-faceted campaign features many elements, including public relations, television and radio public service announcements, posters, brochures, computer toppers, billboards and clergy toolkits. The campaign is featured predominately at Driver’s License Centers and in other venues across the state. Efforts are also underway to increase traffic to the new online portal, www.donatelife-pa.org, which directly allows visitors to register as designated organ and tissue donors with PennDOT.
“We look forward to working with Giant,” said Howard M. Nathan, President and CEO of Gift of Life Donor Program. “Their commitment to this issue and their innovative campaigns are a great fit for our efforts going forward.”
